A private certifier signs off the CDC, usually in about 10 to 20 business days, with no full council DA.

How big can a granny flat be in Sydney?

The maximum internal floor area for a secondary dwelling is 60 square metres under the NSW Housing SEPP. Covered decks, verandahs and carports sit outside that figure, so you can still add outdoor living space.

How long does the whole project take?

Allow roughly 10 to 20 business days for CDC approval, about 8 weeks for the factory build, and around 2 days for installation, plus site preparation.

Can I rent out my granny flat?
